| Registering
a Trailer/Caravan
A brand new trailer/caravan is a trailer/caravan that has been purchased from a
dealer. This includes brand new trailers purchased interstate and returned
to the ACT on an unregistered vehicle permit to obtain registration.
Trailers and caravans do not need CTPI, they are covered by the insurance of the towing vehicle.
If the trailer has been modified or is homemade, a weighbridge ticket
is needed in addition to the usual registration requirements.
Trailers drawn by motorbikes, or side cars attached to motorbikes, must weigh no
more than the unladen motorbike.
To Register a Brand New Trailer/Caravan that was Purchased in the ACT
You do not need a roadworthy inspection if the
place of purchase has supplied you with an
inspection report from an Authorised Inspection
Station.
