Replacement 'Y' series (standard) number plates can be purchased for an ACT registered vehicle.

A person may apply for replacement 'Y' series number plates if they dislike their current registration number or if the current number plates have been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed.

Replacement 'Y' series number plates cannot be requested out of sequence.

To make an application for replacement number plates, a person must attend a Canberra Connect Shopfront. An application for replacement number plates can be made by the registered operator of the vehicle or by an agent acting on behalf of the registered operator.

An applicant for replacement number plates is required to provide:

1. a completed Application for Replacement form

2. the previous number plates

3. a Statutory Declaration if the previous plates have been lost, stolen or destroyed (a Statutory Declaration can be completed at the Shopfront).

4. a letter providing authority to act as an agent or completed Authority to Act as an Agent form (if applicable).
