ACT Licence Conditions
Under the Road Transport (Driver
Licensing) Regulation 2000, the Road Transport Authority (RTA) may impose
conditions on a driver licence using the following condition codes:
A
The licence holder must drive a
motor vehicle fitted with automatic transmission only. This includes Tiptronic
transmission vehicles. A Tiptronic transmission is an automatic transmission
type which allows the driver to manually override the automatic shift.
B
The licence
holder must only drive a heavy vehicle fitted with an automatic or synchromesh
gear box.
A
heavy vehicle licence is endorsed with a 'B' condition if the driving test is
passed in a vehicle with a synchromesh gear box. This condition applies to
licence classes LR, MR, HR, HC and MC. It does not apply to licence class C.
E
If the licence holder is the rider of a motorbike,
it must be of restricted engine capacity of no more than 50 mls.
Q
A
'Q'
condition is issued by some jurisdictions to temporary overseas visitors who
apply for an Australian driver licence. The purpose of the the 'Q' condition is
to indicate that the licence holder has not provided proof of permanent
Australian residency.
The
'Q'
condition is not currently issued by the ACT RTA.
S
The
licence holder must wear corrective lenses at all times when driving.
X
The
licence holder must comply
with any condition of which the holder has been notified in writing by the RTA.
