Concession Validation
Process
The ACT Road Transport
Authority (RTA) is improving the concessional
vehicle registration and driver licence renewal
services for eligible Centrelink and Department
of Veterans' Affairs benefit recipients.
The improvements will
enable the RTA to verify your concession entitlement
with Centrelink or the Department of Veterans'
Affairs prior to sending you a vehicle registration
or driver licence renewal notice. In most cases this
will mean the renewal notice will display the
concessional amount to be paid.
The improvements will allow
customers who are renewing a vehicle registration
(provided that the vehicle does not require an
inspection) to take advantage of payment options
such as BPAY, Internet, Mail and payment at any
Australia Post Outlet. In most cases you will no
longer need to attend a Canberra Connect Shopfront
to provide proof of your concession entitlement.
Customers will still be
required to attend a Canberra Connect Shopfront to
renew a driver licence. If your concession
entitlement is verified before your driver licence
renewal is sent, you will not need to provide proof
of entitlement when renewing.
To ensure that you continue
to receive your concession entitlement and are able
to take advantage of the improved renewal process,
you should complete a Concession Validation Consent
form and return it to any
Canberra Connect Shopfront
or by post to: Road User Services, PO Box 582,
Dickson, ACT 2602. You will only need to provide
your consent once.
If you do not complete a
consent form the RTA will not be able to determine
or verify your eligibility for a vehicle
registration or driver licence concession.
Therefore, in addition to presenting your current
entitlement card, you will be required to obtain
current proof of your Centrelink or Department of
Veterans' Affairs concession on each occasion you
seek a concession from the RTA. This proof of
entitlement must be no more than 14 days old.
