In line with the development of the Sustainable Transport Action Plan, the Department of Territory and Municipal Services is conducting an ACT Travel Survey between August and October 2009. The survey will help understand travel patterns of the Canberra community and will be used to assist in shaping future transport policy and planning. The results of the survey will assist in determining the community's travel needs.

Your help in completing the survey would be greatly appreciated. Please complete Part A for the whole household. Part B and Part C should be completed by each resident in the household provided they are aged five years and older. Younger residents may require adult assistance.

Completing Part A - Household / Persons Details

Part A is designed to gather information on the demographic characteristics and car ownership of Canberra households.

Completing Part B - Persons Trip Details

Part B is designed to gather information on everyday individuals' journeys. Please note that for the purpose of this survey, the trip is your travel from origin to destination using a particular mode of transport (e.g. bus, taxi, car as driver, car as passenger, bicycle etc.) to fulfil a travel purpose (e.g. work, education, shopping, medical, sports etc.). We would like to know where you travel, how you travel and why you travel on a typical day so that we can better plan transport services. For examples of trip flow details, please click here.

Completing Part C - Household / Persons Travel Characteristics

Part C is designed to gather information on the travel characteristics/behaviour of the community.

Completing the Online Survey

The travel survey is estimated to take approximately approximately 30 minutes to complete for a household of four persons.

You will be able to complete the survey here between August and October 2009.
